We are concluding the "Continents and Oceans" thematic unit with each family doing a presentation on a continent. Our family (Kylie and Brayden mainly) presented

South America!

Kylie and I made a yummy Colombian dessert that was very much enjoyed by everyone in our homeschooling group. (we doubled the recipe and baked it in a 9X13 dish)

Kylie did a fAnTaStIC job reading the facts we researched about South America.

(I will be posting a video of her reading in the next post...stay tuned)

Brayden helped by holding up a map and then a poster with images from South America as a visual for the facts Kylie was reading about.

Kylie is demonstrating how people mix hot chocolate in Colombia.

*Our friend Ale, who is originally from Colombia, was kind enough to let us borrow so many artifacts that are specific to South America... a big THANKS to Ale!

Showing a miniature model of a Colombian traditional home. A presentation about South America would not have been complete without dancing. Kylie and Brayden taught everyone a few dance moves. For crafts, we made maracas- using fancy, colorful eggs that we filled with dry, white beans. Brayden wore his soccer gear for this presentation(cleats and all...), since Soccer or Fotbal is the most popular sport in South America. Kylie wore a white embroidered dress accessorised with a handmade necklace we borrowed from Ale.

I am so proud of my kids for working so hard, for doing a fabulous job presenting, and for having some serious moves on the dancing floor. ;-)

Wow, I can see they learned a lot. What great experience to present to a group. Uncle Dakota would be proud! Way to go Kylie and Brayden!
