Kylie's first spa treatment

Kylie had her first "spa treatment" on Friday night. It was a night filled with pampering, good friends, coloring, and of course some good ol' ice cream.

Fiona, Amanda, Allie and Kylie just picked the color to paint their toe nails. Fiona, Gillian holding Colton and Kylie

Life according to Colton...

My mom and dad can't believe I am already 2 1/2 months old. I believe it! I am after all learning all sorts of new tricks and I am growing "like a weed" according to mom and dad. I was just at the doctor's office today for the well child exam and found out I weigh 15.4 lbs, which puts me in the 97% for kids my age. I am also pretty long... I am 24in. long, which means I am in the 65% on the growth chart -- I know this is just above the average but don't worry, this will change, I am a Hoben after all!!

I now know how to smile, coo, and suck my thumb. I like to look at the nifty toys in my swing. I also can turn my head to watch my brother and sister running wildly through the room. Mom says I am pretty good at lifting my head up off the ground, during tummy time, definitely not my favorite past time but mom says we need to have tummy time so I can grow strong...whatever that means.

I am a pretty laid back guy. Not much bothers me, if I am fed and changed, I can sleep for hours on end... sleeping IS my favorite past time after all.

It was fun updating you all with what's going on and before I sign off, here are some pictures of me with loved ones.

Here I am with my dad and my big brother.

Ahhh....my favorite thing to do.

Smile for the camera.

Me with my brother and sister.

Tummy time.....ugh.

I don't know what's going on here, I was just waking up....

Love, love, love....

Our love bugs!

TAKE THE TIME

It's nine-fifteen, and bedtime took too long, once again -
Another drink, another glass of water, and then...
The questions come, the hands hold tight, and the eyes are openend wide,
And something in me wispers, "Now's the time."

"Mommy, why did Muffy die? where's the sun?
Are there cats in heaven? And why did Jesus come?"
And though a whole day's dishes wait, and bills are pilled up high,
Something in me wispers, "Take the time."

Take the time, while they're right here by your side,
Take the time, while their arms are opened wide.
Teach them how to love the Lord with all their heart and mind,
Oh, they're only home a season, take the time.

Riding off to Narnia upon a lion's back,
Chubby fingers close the book and add it to the stack.
"Aslan didn't kill the witch -- oh Dad, why did he die?"
And something in me whispers: "Now's the time."

For one day they'll want to spend time alone.
One day they'll need to be on their own.
Next week their hugs may not seem quite the same -
Oh Lord, may they honor Your name.

It's nine-fifteen and bedtime took too long, once again -
Another drink, another glass of water, and then
The questions come, the hands hold tight, and the eyes are opened wide...
And something in me wispers, "Now's the time."

Take the time, while they're right here by your side,
Take the time, while their arms are opened wide,
Teach them how to love the Lord with all their heart and mind,
Oh, they're only home a season, take the time.

(- 1985 Paul and Teri Reisser)

I read this poem and it brought tears to my eyes. It was a good reminder for me to - take the time....

Kylie quotes

One of the most amazing things about being a mom is to see your child develop a sense of humor. And if one thing is for sure is that Kylie keeps us laughing. Sometimes she says silly things just to get a reaction or a laugh, and other times she just says things that are just FUNNY! at least they are to us. So, with no further due, here are some of Kylie's quotes

One evening at the dinner table:

"Daddy is a pilot, mommy is a teacher, I am an artist, Brayden is a basketball player and Colton...is such a cutie little man!!!"

I told Kylie the other day she is cute and she responded: "Mommy, I am not cute....i am beautiful."

And we close with a prayer:

" Dear God, thank you for Kylie, thank you for mommy, thank you for daddy, thank you for Brayden and Colton... and everyone who lives on this planet. AMEN!"
